WHAT WE DO
Chef Matt Basile started the Fidel Gastro’s Street Food Co. in 2012. It began as scribbles on a napkin while working in the advertising industry and it turned into a Toronto-based food experience company that has been serving the city and beyond unforgettable food and experiences for the last decade. From golf tournaments, food festival circuits, intimate 30-person weddings, or 300 person galas, Fidel Gastro’s has catered hundreds of events over the past ten years. Maybe you enjoyed our epic brunch or Burgers, Bingo and Beers at our Queen Street West gastro-pub, Lisa Marie. Or maybe you crushed our famous Pad Thai Fries and Smash Burgers from our food truck Priscilla. Or maybe, just maybe, you watched Matt on Rebel Without a Kitchen on the Travel + Escape Network or Netflix, Chefs in Cars Getting Takeout on YouTube, or saw one of Matt’s segments on Breakfast Television or The Social. You’re here because in one way or another, you’ve experienced what Fidel Gastro’s has to offer, or are looking for the chance to do so.
We have some news for you. While the food service side of Fidel Gastro’s has always run in the foreground, in the background has always been the food media side of the business, forever intertwined with our sister production company Benson & Oak. Starting today, this side is going to take the front seat, as we shift our food service over to a new operational partner, the Ascari Hospitality Group. What does that mean you ask? It means that we've retired from the food truck life and won’t be providing catering services any more. Don't worry though, because we've partnered with an experienced catering company to continue to help you get the very best food and experience for any event you’re looking to throw, large or small.
